Lorraine B. Carter, 73, of Boxboro died August 28 of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. She was raised in Falmouth and also leaves family here.

Born in Norway, Maine, she was the daughter of Alwyn and Bernice (Thurston) Carter. Her family moved to Woods Hole in 1952, and she attended Falmouth schools, graduating from Lawrence High School with the Class of 1964.

She attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, earning a bachelor’s degree in English. After graduating she met and married Patrick O’Donnell of Boston. The couple lived in New Hampshire, where their two daughters were born.

After she and Mr. O’Donnell divorced, Ms. Carter moved west, living for several years in Washington State before returning to Massachusetts. She settled in Boxboro and worked for Sun Microsystems.

She leaves her daughters, Meghan Parks and her husband, Arthur Parks, of Marion and Dr. Caitlin O’Donnell and her husband, Brian Sutherland, of New Hampshire; a brother, Richard Carter of North Falmouth; six grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other extended family; and her former husband.

Ms. Carter was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Gloria Moore; and two nephews.

Services will be at a later date.
