Maria Alice (Rodriques) Dutra, who leaves family in Falmouth, died July 3 at Cape Regency Nursing Home in Centerville. She was 103.

She was the wife of Avelino Dutra, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage until his death in 1979.

Born in the Azores, she was the daughter of John and Mary Alice Rodriques. In 1933 she left her village on Faial Island as a married woman of 17 and, after arriving to the United States, lived most of her life as a resident of West Barnstable.

Ms. Dutra, who was known as Mary, was an accomplished seamstress for more than 50 years.

She was a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Hope. She was an avid gardener and belonged to the Red Hat Society.

She leaves a son, Avelino Dutra of Port Orange, Florida; seven grandchildren including Suzanne Smith of Falmouth; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and other family.

She was predeceased by her son John R. Dutra, who died July 3, 2012.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 29, at 10 AM at Our Lady of Hope Church in West Barnstable.

Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville.
