Mary Elizabeth Mallett of East Falmouth, who was known as Marybeth, died January 21 after an extended illness. She was 73.

She was the widow of Nicholas Costas. Her husband died in 2002.

A native of Melrose, she received her nursing degree from Mount Auburn School of Nursing and her bachelor of science and master’s in nursing from Boston College.

Ms. Mallett’s nursing career extended from general nursing at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital to director of clinical studies at Theseus Imaging in Boston.

She had a passion for entertaining and cooking as well as for home design and décor. She loved Cape Cod and made her home here for many years.

She leaves her stepdaughter, Jennifer Costas; two brothers, Bill Mallett and Jim Mallett; and additional family members.

Her parents, Charles J. and Marguerite Mallett, preceded her in death.

She was interred with her husband at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
