Oliver Louis Barrows, 59, of East Falmouth died January 4, after a brief illness.

The son of Grace O. Barrows, he was born in Falmouth and lived here for his entire life. He was known as Butch.

He graduated from Falmouth High School in 1979 and during his time there was an accomplished athlete.

Mr. Barrows was employed as a foreman by Lawrence-Lynch Corp. for many years and was a member of the Massachusetts Laborers Union until his retirement in 2011.

He was involved in several local Alcoholics Anonymous groups and took pride in inspiring others to reach their goals. An avid Boston sports fan, Mr. Barrows also enjoyed relaxing at the beach while appreciating the beauty of Cape Cod.

He leaves two daughters, Kelly Barrows of Richmond, Virginia, and Christine Barrows of Portland, Oregon; two sisters, Isabelle Morton of Mattapoisett and Kimberly Barrows of Merritt Island, Florida; a brother, Douglas Barrows of East Falmouth; and other family including his cousin Priscilla Bazilio of Sandwich.

He was predeceased by his mother, who died in 2012; his brother Darryl Barrows; and his sister Antoinette Barrows.

A celebration of his life will be Saturday, January 11, with visitation from 1 to 4 PM, followed by a brief service at 4 o'clock at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street in Falmouth.
