Robert Dunn

Robert Emmett Dunn, 86, died September 17 at his home on Shore Street in Falmouth.

He was the husband of Kathleen (Rafferty) Dunn.

The son of Joseph P. and Josephine (Cassidy) Dunn, he grew up in Providence, Rhode Island. His summers were spent in Falmouth, where he was a champion sailor at Falmouth Yacht Club in his youth.

Mr. Dunn moved permanently from Foxboro to his childhood summer home in 2000 following his retirement from ownership of Aluminum Anodizers years earlier.

In addition to sailing the waters of Vineyard Sound for most of his life, Mr. Dunn also spent time biking and continued as a skier well into his later years.

In addition to his wife, he leaves eight children, Heather Ruggiero, Rob Dunn, Kate Brady, Jennifer Regan, David Dunn, Julie McLemore, Elizabeth Dunn and Patrick Dunn; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three siblings, Jane H. Dunn, David J. Dunn and Cynthia D. O’Connor.

He was predeceased in 1997 by his brother Joseph P. Dunn Jr.

Visiting hours will be Friday, September 25, from 4 to 6 PM at Chapman, Cole, & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street in Falmouth.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 26, at 10 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 East Falmouth Highway, followed by burial at the St. Joseph Cemetery on Gifford Street in Falmouth.
