Robert Moran

Robert E. Moran Sr., 86, died August 22 at his home in East Falmouth after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was the husband of Margaret J. (Roberts) Moran, to whom he was married for 65 years.

Born and raised in Falmouth, he was the youngest of eight siblings.

Mr. Moran was a crane operator by profession and was employed by Hydro-Dredge Corporation for many years. His work entailed job sites off the shores of many well-known beaches and bridges throughout New England. Locally, he was part of the team that dredged Menauhant Beach and Falmouth Harbor.

He also worked for Crosby Boatyard building boats. He loved the ocean and could be seen frequently down at Falmouth Harbor watching the boats and fishing as well as socializing with his longtime friends.

Mr. Moran maintained flowerbeds and vegetable gardens on his property, and spent time in his garage working on motors and fixing lawnmowers.

He leaves his son, Robert E. Moran Jr. of East Falmouth and his wife, Anne Moran; three grandchildren, Jennifer Moran and Stephanie Moran, both of East Falmouth, and Tiffany Miranda of Mashpee; five great-grandchildren, Courteney Sprague, Jasmine Moran, Roshaun Moran and Collyn Moran-Bagg, all of East Falmouth, and Eliana Miranda of Mashpee; two great-great-grandchildren, Paisley Sprague and Harper Sprague, both of East Falmouth; the great-niece and great-nephew he raised, Anna-Lee Lavoie of Florida and Jamye Lavoie Jr. of East Falmouth; and other family.
