Rosalyn Lacerda

Rosalyn M. Lacerda of Falmouth died September 18 at Falmouth Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. She was 77.

She was married to Anthony P. Lacerda until his death in 1983.

Known as Roz, Ms. Lacerda worked at JML Care Center for 32 years.

In her early years, she played on numerous candlepin bowling leagues. She also enjoyed participating in craft fairs and was known for making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls.

Ms. Lacerda loved to bake and sew, and made many quilts that she gave away.

She leaves her children, Janelle Lopes of Clearmont, Florida, Shawn Lopes of Falmouth, Anthony Lacerda of Dumfries, Virginia, Aaron Lacerda of Winter Garden, Florida, and Rachelle Miranda of Falmouth; her siblings, Albert Lopes of New Bedford, Faith Lopes of Marion and Clifton Lopes of Mattapoisett. She leaves seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren as well as many extended family members.

She was predeceased by her daughter Sharon Waite, brothers John Lopes and Robert Lopes, and sister Molly Gilbert.

Visitation be Sunday, September 26, from 2 to 5 PM at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 584 West Falmouth Highway.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 27, at noon at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 East Falmouth Highway.

Burial will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
