Ruth Catherine (Schroeder) Mammone of Beverly died at home February 5, due to complications following a recent stroke. Ms. Mammone, 86, leaves family in East Falmouth.

She was the wife of Richard W. Mammone Sr. for 50 years. Her husband died in 2015.

The daughter of Catherine Schroeder Luby and Walter Heikkila, she was raised in Falmouth and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1952. During high school she played basketball and was a majorette. Many summer days were spent at Menauhant Beach in East Falmouth.

A former longtime resident of Raynham, for many years Ms. Mammone was employed at Morse Shoe corporate headquarters in Canton. During her retirement she lived in Taunton and worked in the bakery at Market Basket there until moving to Beverly in 2013.

She leaves five children, Richard W. Mammone Jr. and his wife, Cheryl Mammone, of Dartmouth, Lisa Mastromatteo and her husband, Dr. Michael Mastromatteo, of Beverly, and Teri A. Sweeney and her husband, William P. Sweeney III, Tracy L. Moniz, and Jeffrey M. Moniz, all of East Falmouth; seven grandchildren, Ella Mastromatteo of Beverly, Owen Goetemann of Hampton, New Hampshire, Carly Mammone of Portland, Oregon, Cassidy Mammone of Beverly, Malcolm D. Sweeney of Quincy, Roscoe J. Sweeney of Stoughton, and Mikayla R. Sweeney of Prescott, Arizona; a sister, Mary Luby of East Falmouth; and extended family.

Services will be private.

Burial will be at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
