Shizuko (Uchiyama) Fuller, a longtime resident of Pocasset, died March 15 at the home of her daughter and son in-law, Jeanne and Jeff Fleming, in East Falmouth. Ms. Fuller was 91.
She was the wife of 56 years of Allen H. Fuller, who died in 2014.
Born in Chiba, Japan, she grew up in the city of Fukuoka. While she was working as a clerk-typist at Itazuke Air Force Base, she met Allen Fuller, who was stationed at the base with the US Air Force. The couple were married two weeks later, and the following week Mr. Fuller was transferred to England Air Force Base in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Over the course of her husband’s military career, Ms. Fuller would live in many cities and countries including Pemberton, New Jersey; Omaha, Nebraska; Warner Robins AFB, Georgia; Vicenza, Italy; and Japan, where she returned when he was stationed at Johnson Air Force Base.
Upon her husband’s retirement from the Air Force they moved to Pocasset, where Ms. Fuller was a stay-at-home mother until her daughter and son entered high school. She then began working for the former Components Manufacturing Company in that village.
When Ms. Fuller retired, she and her husband spent time traveling and going on cruises.
In addition to her daughter, she leaves her son, Kevin Fuller and his wife, Danielle Fuller, of Inman, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Eric Young of Broad Brook, Connecticut, Brian Young of West Palm Beach, Florida, Courtney Fuller of Somerville, and Hunter Fleming of East Falmouth; two sisters; and extended family in both the United States and Japan.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Burial will be with her late husband at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
There will be no service.
