Sonia S. Kessler, 77, of Cresco, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Falmouth, died February 22 at the Hospice House of Monroe County in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
She was the widow of Leon Kessler.
Born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Pauline (Martin) Susskind.
Ms. Kessler was a graduate of both Bucknell University and the Yale School of Drama. She later went on to become the tax collector for Windsor, Connecticut.
She was a former member of Falmouth Jewish Congregation and of the Beth Hillel Synagogue in Bloomfield, Connecticut, where she had also been a resident. Her Hebrew name was Sora Hanna.
She leaves two sons, Michael Kessler, and Stephen Kessler and his wife, Karin Kessler; a daughter-in-law, Claudine Kessler; and six grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Nathan and David Kessler; and her sister, Jeri Roeben.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, February 24, at King Solomon Memorial Park, Dwasline Road, Clifton, New Jersey.
