Stanley J. Masalsky Jr., 81, of East Falmouth died August 7 after a long bout with cancer.

He was born in Rumford, Maine, to Theresa (Brennick) and Stanley J. Masalsky Sr.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine, he married Carol F. Pusen of Boston. The couple lived in Stoughton, where they raised three sons.

Mr. Masalsky had a 40-year career as an educator and administrator in the Canton Public Schools, initially as a teacher and coach. He was the longtime athletic director there, and was named National Athletic Director of the Year in 1998.

In retirement, Mr. Masalsky and his wife divided their time between Falmouth and The Villages in Florida.

In addition to his wife, he leaves their sons, Paul Masalsky, Joseph Masalsky and Christopher Masalsky; four sisters; and seven grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, August 9, at St. Anthony’s Church in East Falmouth.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.
