Susan T. Butler of Teaticket died Monday, October 4, after a long recovery from a significant fall in June. She was 74.

She was the wife of John J. Butler III for 53 years. The couple met at North Reading High School and had been together since.

With her husband she enjoyed traveling and walking along the beaches of Falmouth.

Ms. Butler was a devout Christian, a congregant of Falmouth Church of the Nazarene and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a Girl Scout leader and spent many hours performing volunteer work, including as a mentor for 11 years.

In addition to her husband, she leaves her son, John J. Butler IV; her daughter, Shennon Murray; two sisters, Sandra LaPerche and Sharlene Van Rooy; and two grandchildren, Ruby Murray and Jenna Murray.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 12, beginning at 4 PM with a funeral service at 6 o’clock, at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 475 Main Street in Falmouth.

Burial will be Wednesday, October 13, at 11 AM at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
