Thomas Dias

Thomas Christopher Dias, 45, of Falmouth died July 16.

Born in Falmouth, he was the son of Cynthia (Barrows) Dias and John Dias Jr. of Teaticket.

He graduated from Falmouth High School in 1993 and was a 4C Project Forward graduate.

Although Mr. Dias had autism and struggled through many health issues throughout his life, he hated to miss a day of work; he currently worked at the HomeGoods store in Teaticket and for 16 years worked at CapeAbilities at Joint Base Cape Cod, Coast Guard Station. He was at his former job the day John F. Kennedy Jr.’s plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard 20 years ago.

He loved to dance and travel. He went to Florida each year with his parents, and had the opportunity to travel to San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, Mexico, and the Cape Verde Islands.

He loved dogs and wished his apartment would allow pets so that he could have one of his own.

A fan of sports, he could talk about the subject for hours, especially his favorite team: the New England Patriots.

In addition to his parents, he leaves two sisters, Elizabeth Rackley and Dorene Dias Pesta; two brothers, John Dias III and Jose Dias; nine nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and -nephews; and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his eldest brother, Ralph Dias.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, July 26, at 10 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 East Falmouth Highway.

Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
