Walter R. Kroan, 84, of Falmouth died August 23 after a long illness.

He was the husband of Helen M. (Speight) Kroan for 38 years.

Born in Mt. Pleasant, New York, he was the son of John and Grace (Armstrong) Kroan.

He attended Gorton and Saunders high schools and joined the US Marines, serving in Okinawa, Japan.

Following his military service, he worked for Otis Elevator, Beacons Moving Company, and Amtrak.

He leaves three children, Susan Kelleher and her husband, John Kelleher, of East Falmouth, Walter Kroan and his wife, Holly Kroan, of Berea, Ohio, and Christopher Kroan and his wife, Jennifer Kroan, of Orlando, Florida; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Sean and Kaitlyn Kelleher, Liam and Veronica Kroan, and Kevin and Kelly Kroan; and other family.

He was predeceased by his wife.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, August 28, at St. Patrick’s Church in Falmouth.

He will be buried at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Nanuet, New York.
