On the night of October 2 at 8:05 there was a catastrophic blowout of an eight-inch water pipe at the intersection of Arlington Street and Silver Beach Avenue. I witnessed a mini-earthquake and suddenly a dozen high pressure fountains of water began flowing out of control. When all the shutoffs were found, the Dig Safe people came and the water department crew worked all night and finished at 7 Sunday morning.

Conditions were terrible. They had to fight cold weather, darkness, tons of muck, hind digging, cutting, repairing and rebuilding the road. Probably affected 120 homes.

The water department crew deserve praise for a job well one.
