The Arctic and the Amazon are burning. Glaciers are melting. Wildlife is disappearing. Data suggest that mature stands of trees withstand the effects of climate change better. We know mature stands of trees house wildlife.

The town was a parking lot this summer. Can we handle a larger influx of visitors?

Sippewissett Campgrounds is now home to “glamping.” The stand of mature trees has been cut, the topography is being stripped. It seems “glamping” is for well-to-do adults only. A vacation source for the low/middle-income family has been denied.

We need to work harder to keep our mature stands of trees.

We need to keep the town from becoming a parking lot.

We need a new definition of “progress.”
