After coming painfully close to earning their first win of the year a few days earlier, the Falmouth Academy boys worked to score their initial victory of the season in their final game before their holiday break last night, December 19, against Rising Tide behind a career night from senior Rob Ciaffoni. The excitable forward was all over the court for the Mariners and hit for 29 points to lead the way in a 42-36 win.

The Mariners struggled out of the gate and saw an 8-5 early deficit to RT balloon to 17-5 early in the second quarter. With their defense becoming problematic for the visitors, causing turnovers on trip and after trip by the visitors, Falmouth charged right back into the game and outscored the visitors 14-1 in the second to take a 19-18 lead at the break.

Ciaffoni led the way, scoring 10 in the first half, but he was just warming up. The forward dominated in the third quarter as the Mariners expanded their lead to double digits behind his 14 points in the period.

FA led by as many as 11 in the fourth. Rising Tide closed to within six late, but could not get any closer.
