Sandwich’s Tyler Lippincott won a race to the finish line to edge Falmouth’s Adrean Blackwood and finish third overall for the Knights on Wednesday.

The Falmouth High School and Sandwich High boys’ and girls’ cross country teams split a couple of meets in Falmouth on Wednesday, October 14. The Falmouth boys won by a 21-35 score, while the Sandwich ladies topped FHS with a 19-39 win.

On the boys’ side, Henry Gartner blazed to the win for the Clippers, besting his teammate and second-place finisher Henry Toran-Sandlin by two minutes. Gartner won the race with a time of 16 minutes and 14 seconds. Toran-Sandlin ran to the runner-up spot with a time of 18:14.

Sandwich’s Tyler Lippincott was third overall with a time of 19:04. In fourth was Falmouth’s Adrean Blackwood, who ran a time of 19:07. Sandwich’s Ezra Clinton was next in 19:10 and Falmouth’s Gavin Friel was sixth, running 19:55. Harry Glover of SHS was seventh in 20 minutes flat. Erik Larrey of FHS ran eighth, in 20:11. Jayden Edgar-Harris (20:44) and Simon Roy (22:55) rounded out the top Sandwich runners.

On the girls’ side, the Knights took the top three spots with Claire Davies winning in 20:10, followed by teammates Caitlin and Brigid Kelly. Caitlin Kelly ran 21:10 and Brigid finished in 22:23.

Josephine Oberton was the top Falmouth runner, with a time of 22:33. Catherine Cone ran fifth, in 22:51. SHS had spots 6, 7 and 8. They were taken by Mackenzie Macauley (23:55), Lexi Eastman (24:13) and Maili Sullivan (24:26).

Falmouth’s third runner was Leyden Steedman (24:23). Sonjia Armitage ran 25:42 and Erin Reyenger finished in 27:06.
