With a dominant third quarter the Falmouth Academy boys’ basketball team pulled off an impressive home win over Rising Tide to get above .500 for the season on Tuesday night, January 25. After allowing RT to hang around in the first half, the Mariners used their size and speed to get to the rim and dominate the third quarter, turning a nine point halftime advantage into a 24 point lead going into the fourth.
The Mariners improved to 5-4 overall with their 50-30 win.
Forward Nate Holmes led the way for the Mariners. Holmes worked the ball inside and out and canned a team-high 20 points in the game. Fellow forward Drew Reeves was also a big contributor , scoring 16 in the victory for the M’s. Freshman guard Sasha Kaplenko scored six points and played some solid defense for FA. The Academy allowed just 13 total second half points to Rising Tide.

It took overtime to get the job done, but the Falmouth Academy boys’ basketball team moved to 2-0 in league play with an exciting victory over St. John Paul II last Friday night. The Mariners rode a 33 point effort from star forward Nate Holmes to get the win.
Nathan Holmes also had a big day for the Mariners. Holmes hit for nine points, with four of those coming in overtime as FA pulled away.
