The end of the season came a little bit earlier than the Falmouth High School track and field team had planned for during the Fall 2 season. The Clippers ran their final “indoor season” meet of the year against Martha’s Vineyard on Saturday, April 10, with a number of solid performances being turned in by the FHS athletes.

The squad later learned that the meet, which was supposed to be the third-to-last of the season, would actually be the final one after both Dennis-Yarmouth and Barnstable—the two squads remaining on the team’s schedule—each shut down their teams for the season due to COVID-19 complications.

While coach Matt Eaton’s team saw the end come a little early, the athletes who plan on participating in spring track will not have much down time before they get back into the swing of things. Practice for the spring season will begin on Monday, April 26, with the season beginning shortly after that.

For the boys there were several big performances in the finale against the Vineyarders. Devin Reese long-jumped 19 feet, 2 inches. Kyle Gaudreault ran a time of 39.2 seconds in the 300-meter race. Milo Van Mooy finished the 600 meters in an impressive 1:37. Nate Drury finished the hurdles with a time of 9.1 seconds.

On the girls’ side, Natalie Bosselman cleared 4-10 in the high jump. Petrashea Johnson sprinted to a quick 7.7 seconds time in the 55-meter dash. Colleen Caswell ran a time of 43.5 seconds in the 300-meter race.
