Hurricane Dorian tracked well south and east of Nantucket last Friday. As typical with hurricanes at this latitude the rains spread west of the center, with little to the east. This was so evident in Bob (1991), which tracked up through eastern Rhode Island. There was very little rain over the Cape, with the swath of heavy rains confined to Connecticut, central Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The same scenario played out with Dorian as heavy rains backed onto the Cape Friday night. Winds peaked just after sunrise on Saturday, and with the storm then racing toward Nova Scotia, died out quickly by sunset. Fair weather with seasonable temperatures followed to round out the week.
