The Mashpee Women’s Club will welcome members and their guests back on Tuesday, April 20, to MWC’s first luncheon since October 2020, when programs were canceled or postponed because of COVID restrictions. The April 20 luncheon will take place at New Seabury Country Club from 11:30 to 2 PM.

The luncheon program will be a Zoom presentation by Harvard-trained neuroscientist and bestselling author Lisa Genova, who will discuss her new book "Remember: The Science of Memory and the Art of Forgetting." "Remember," Ms. Genova’s first nonfiction book, is an exploration of how we remember, why we forget, and what we can do to protect our memories.

In her discussion of "Remember," Ms. Genova will delve into how memories are made and how we retrieve them. She will explain why memories may be temporarily inaccessible or erased forever, and why some memories are built to exist for only a few seconds (like a passcode) while others can last a lifetime (your wedding day). She pinpoints the clear distinction between normal forgetting (where you parked your car) and forgetting due to Alzheimer's (that you own a car). She will present listeners with the tools to vastly improve your ability to remember and feel less rattled when you inevitably forget.

Register for this event online with MWC’s new Venmo and PayPal applications or send a check to MWC, PO Box 1613, Mashpee, MA 02649. The cost is $25 for members, $30 for guests. The number of participants is still somewhat limited due to current COVID restrictions, and masks are required.

MWC is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that donates to many charities on Cape Cod through its fundraising activities, special events, monthly luncheons and other programs. Information about MWC, its mission, programs and major charitable donations are featured on its website at
