Recently I was not feeling well as an Elder and Deer Clan Mother of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. But when I read “Selectmen Back Tribe On Case” in The Mashpee Enterprise on July 3, it was like Indigenous drumming music to my ears and good medicine to my whole being. Myself and family commend the Mashpee Board of Selectmen for supporting “Land Into Trust-Reservation Land” for our present and future generations.

All selectmen agreed with language to read as selectman Andrew Gottlieb stated, “I think the notion we want to put forward is the tribe has been here since the beginning of time and that the town is doing its best to be a good neighbor and coexist in a way that is respectful of that.”
