Fireworks at Mashpee High School that were planned for the Fourth of July but canceled because of rain have been rescheduled for Saturday, September 18, with a rain date of Sunday, September 19.
“I’m really grateful that we were able to revisit this event because I know it was such a disappointment around the Fourth of July that we weren’t able to do it,” said Mary K. Bradbury, Mashpee’s recreation director. “It’s going to be quite the display.”
A donation from the Mashpee Pops, in honor of the late James Vaccaro, means the fireworks display will be twice its usual size, Ms. Bradbury said. The display will be synchronized to music, she said.
While the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of last year’s celebration, the Mashpee Board of Selectmen at a meeting in May said the fireworks could move forward this year.
No vendors or other entertainment have been invited to the fireworks celebration this year. Parking at the high school will begin at 5 PM, with fireworks starting around 7:30 PM. No parking will be allowed on Route 151 or Old Barnstable Road.
