Yesterday was the last day for candidates to return nomination papers with the required signatures of 50 registered voters to the town clerk’s office.

The election is scheduled for Saturday, May 8, at the Quashnet School. Candidates have until Monday, April 5, to withdraw their name from consideration.

Incumbent selectmen John J. Cotton and Thomas O’Hara are among the four candidates who have returned papers for two seats on the board of selectmen. Mary Waygan, a current member of the planning board, and Marie Stone have also returned papers for the board of selectmen.

Mary E. Waygan has also returned papers for one of two open seats on the planning board. Dennis Balzarini, who is also an incumbent planning board, has also returned papers for a seat on the planning board.

Robert W. Hansen has returned papers to seek reelection to his current position as an associate member on the planning board.

Matthew Davis and Brian Weeden have both returned papers for two seats on the school committee.

Incumbent members of the Mashpee Library Board of Trustees Joan Lyons and Ann Macdonald have also returned papers to seek reelection to their positions.

Mohamad Fahd has returned papers for a position on the Mashpee Housing Authority.

For the Mashpee Board of Water Commissioners, incumbent Ronald Gangemi has returned papers.
