Matthew J. Lopes, 29, of Great Neck Road North in Mashpee was arraigned in Falmouth District Court Monday, November 9, for firearm trafficking, conspiracy and selling or transferring large-capacity firearms.

Mr. Lopes sold a 7.62-caliber semi-automatic rifle, three Tapco 30-round magazines, one Tapco 10-round magazine containing four rounds of Red Army 7.62-by-39-caliber ammunition and a nylon gun bag to a Mashpee Police Department informant.

“I will not be identifying the confidential informant by either name or gender in this report so as to not jeopardize any ongoing investigations in the region,” Mashpee Detective Michael Cook stated in his report.

The offense occurred on September 19, 2019, at Riverbend Village Apartments at 100 Great Neck Road North in Mashpee.

A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for January 8, 2021.

Bail was set at $2,500, although Mr. Lopes is incarcerated at Barnstable Country Correctional Facility on unrelated charges, according to Det. Cook’ s report.
