Following a month-long investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Drug Task Force and the Mashpee Police Department, a Mashpee man has been charged with trafficking fentanyl.
Edward J. Harper, 44, of Mohawk Drive was arrested and arraigned last Friday, February 21 in Falmouth District Court on drug charges.
Mr. Harper was charged with a subsequent offense of distributing a Class A drug as well as trafficking in more than 10 grams of a Class A drug, fentanyl. Mr Harper was held on $100,000 bail.
The arrest came after police spent a month tracking the whereabouts of Mr. Harper using a GPS tracking device attached to the vehicle that police said Mr. Harper was using to resupply and distribute the drugs.
The police said that the vehicle’s activity was “consistent with narcotics distribution,” according to court documents. As a result, the police said they were granted a warrant to search Mr. Harper’s vehicle, residence and person.
During a search of Mr. Harper’s Mohawk Road residence on Friday, February 21, police found a clear plastic bag containing 14 smaller bags containing powder packaged for distribution. The police also found two firearms, which they removed from the residence.
A pretrial hearing for Mr. Harper is scheduled for March 12.
