A 26-year-old Mashpee man is facing murder charges after Mashpee police officers dispatched to 1 Wampanoag Road on Friday, December 18, found his mother dead, the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office wrote in a press release.
Mashpee police arrived at the scene around 11:12 AM after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a disturbance. When officers arrived on scene, they found Andrew Baily “acting erratically,” the press release said. When police entered the apartment, Mr. Baily’s 60-year old mother, Cheryl Crowell, was found unresponsive in a bedroom.
Ms. Crowell was transported to Falmouth Hospital, where she died.
Mr. Baily was taken into custody and has been charged with murder, strangulation and assault and battery.
He will be arraigned early next week.
