The National Weather Service is calling for clear skies when fireworks are planned for Mashpee’s community picnic and fireworks.
The annual gathering will be held Monday, July 1, at 5 PM at the Mashpee Middle-High School. If it rains, the event will be moved to Tuesday, July 2.
Performances for the evening will include Henry the Juggler starting at 5 PM, live music by Hazy, Hot & Humid at 6 PM and a K-9 dog demonstration by the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department at 7:15 PM.
Games and activities will include inflatable-style carnival games, face painting, an obstacle course, ball games (including GaGa Ball, a game similar to dodgeball), laser tag, toy racecar games, train rides and pony rides. Food includes barbecued pulled pork, hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage, pepper and onions, pizza, novelty and scooped ice cream, cotton candy, popcorn, fried dough and cannolis from Cape Cod Cannolis.
The night will conclude at 9 o’clock with a fireworks display by Atlas Fireworks. Free parking is available at the school. The town will also provide a shuttle service from 5:30 to 10:30 PM from Quashnet Elementary School to the middle-high school. Handicapped parking will be available.
Alcohol, smoking and pets are not allowed on school grounds.
The event is planned and organized by the Mashpee Special Events Committee.
