Great Neck Road North was shut down most of the day Monday, November 22, following a crash that occurred at around 6:30 AM.

The Mashpee Police Department said a passenger car and an 18-wheel tractor-trailer truck collided head-on. The truck was driving south when a northbound car drifted into the southbound lane. The truck swerved to avoid the car and rolled over onto its side, and a significant amount of oil spilled onto the roadway.

Traffic was blocked on Great Neck Road North between Meetinghouse Road and Lowell Road as police inspected and the mess is cleared.

All vehicle occupants are being treated for injuries and are expected to recover, police said. Roadblocks that caused significant delays and remained in place until approximately 3 PM. School buses and select residents were permitted to move through traffic blocks.

A private company was brought in to clean the oil spill Monday into Tuesday morning.
