The Town of Mashpee will hold a series of forums in the runup to Town Meeting scheduled for Monday, May 3, to discuss the $54 million wastewater treatment and sewer construction project that will be before voters.

The sewer project aims to address degrading water quality in the town’s bays and estuaries caused by an excess of nitrogen that stems primarily from septic systems. The forums will cover what the first phase of the sewer project includes, how it will be paid for and why it is necessary to restore water quality.

The first forum is scheduled for Tuesday, April 13, at 2 PM with another forum at 7 PM the same day. Forums will also be held on Thursday, April 15, at 2 PM and Thursday, April 22, at 10 AM.

Participants are required to register for the forums by emailing
