Mashpee Town Planner Evan Lehrer estimated that the seasonal population in Mashpee this summer will peak at about 36,198 persons, an increase from last year’s estimate of 35,736 persons.
Mr. Lehrer presented the estimate in a memo to the Mashpee Board of Selectmen on Monday, January 11. The selectman approved the estimate unanimously during a virtual meeting.
“Calendar year 2020 was generally consistent with prior year development patterns,” Mr. Lehrer said in the memo. “There have been no subdivisions or significant residential development.”
The buildout of New Seabury’s Cottages, which is in the fourth phase of its development, is expected to increase single-family residences by 67, Mr. Lehrer said.
After the town passed an accessory apartment bylaw in 2019, four accessory apartment units have also been constructed, the town planner said.
Four duplexes adding a total of eight units were also permitted, he said.
