No one was injured when a six-wheel dump truck drove off the causeway near protected marshland on Monomoscoy Island Road on Friday afternoon, June 14.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene at 3:34 PM, Mashpee Fire Captain Joseph P. Fellows said.

No fuel was spilled in the incident, but the truck’s fuel was off-loaded before towing as a precaution.

Floating devices were also brought to the scene to prevent fuel from leaking into the marsh, but they were not needed.

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection was notified.

It is not known why the truck went off the road, but Captain Fellows said.
