Champagne flowed, music played and signs read “She said ‘Yes!’” at Willowbend Country Club last Thursday, August 19. More than 150 people came to celebrate the engagement of Regan Communications Group’s chairman and chief executive officer, George Regan, and his fiancee, Elizabeth Akeley.
Mr. Regan popped the question earlier that day during a romantic getaway to Nantucket before the couple flew back to the Mashpee country club for the party, Regan Communications shared in a press release.
The guest list included public figures such as Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito, former Boston Police Commissioner William G. Gross, Mashpee Town Manager Rodney C. Collins, Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe and Mashpee Police Chief Scott W. Carline, among others. Guests were asked to provide a negative COVID-19 test if they were not vaccinated.
Former US Senator Scott P. Brown played electric guitar onstage with James Montgomery and the band, and Willowbend founder David Southworth toasted to the couple. William J. Bratton, former New York police commissioner and Boston police commissioner, will serve as Mr. Regan’s best man.
Ms. Akeley’s family was also in attendance, introduced by WBZ Radio’s Dan Rea, who was serving as master of ceremonies.
The bride-to-be is originally from Bath, Maine. She is a lead flight attendant for JetBlue, where she met Mr. Regan aboard a flight.
