Selectmen appointed Andrea Watson to the cultural council, and Alexis Hanson to the Board of Registrars at their Monday, August 19, meeting.

Ms. Watson, who moved to Mashpee in November, is a volunteer with the Cotuit Center for the Arts, the Mashpee Council on Aging, and the “Read to Me at KCC” Program at the Kenneth C. Coombs school.

“I’ve noticed that culture sort of brings community together, it sort of transcends demographics,” Ms. Watson told the selectmen. “What I would like to do is to be part of that in any way I can.”

Ms. Hanson, who was not in attendance at the selectmen’s meeting, has been a registered voter since 1980.

“I have lived in Mashpee since 1974 and have been involved in Mashpee elections in one way or another for all of those years,” she wrote in a letter to selectmen.

Both positions were approved unanimously.
