Ann K. (Twomey) Carey died November 10 at her home in Popponesset. She was 96 years old and was the wife of the late Arthur Carey, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage.

She was born on April 24, 1926, to the late John J. Twomey and the late Dorothy (Burke) Twomey in Medford. She served her country during World War II by working for the engineering company Stone & Webster. While there, she assisted with the Manhattan Project. She later worked as a physician’s assistant. She also lived in West Roxbury and Dover. She and her family summered in Popponesset for many seasons and eventually retired to full-time residency on Popponesset Beach.
