Anthony Marshall Pettus, 67, of Mashpee died unexpectedly on March 7 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia.

He was the life partner of Ann Benoit.

His parents were James Marshall Pettus and Marion Pettus.

Mr. Pettus served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.

He also served as a officer with the Boston Police Department for 26 years until his retirement in 2005.

An avid boater, he made many trips to Florida where he established close friendships over the years.

In addition to his partner, he leaves a nephew, Richard Parker of Washington, DC.

He was predeceased by his sister, Renette Parker.

Visitation will be Friday, March 19, beginning at 11 AM with a funeral service at noon, at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue in Mashpee.

Burial will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
