David J. LaPorte, 40, of Mashpee died unexpectedly on July 12.

He was the son of Jeanne LaPorte and David B. LaPorte of Mashpee.

After being educated about his chosen profession at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Harwich, Mr. LaPorte worked as a carpenter for many years. An accomplished craftsman, he particularly loved to fix items such as boats.

Mr. LaPorte had refurbished his own boat and loved to go fishing on it, especially with his father aboard. He enjoyed hunting in addition to fishing, and spending time outdoors in general. He was a member of the Singletary Rod & Gun Club in Sutton.

Besides his parents, he leaves his brother, Christopher LaPorte of Mashpee; his fiancée, Sarah Bennett of East Falmouth; and other family.

Visitation will be Friday, July 17, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue in Mashpee.

A funeral Mass will be said at 11 o’clock at Parish of Christ the King in Mashpee.

Burial will be private.
