Evelyn Elizabeth (Stead) McAloon, 95, of Milton died March 10 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Milton, following a short illness. She was a former resident of Mashpee and of Sandwich.

Born in Newfoundland, Canada, she moved to Lynn as a child and lived there for many years.

Ms. McAloon worked for many years as an underwriter for Fireman’s Fund in Boston.

Following her marriage in 1984 to Robert L. McAloon, she lived in Sandwich and in Mashpee. They would spend their winters in Naples, Florida.

Ms. McAloon was active at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Osterville and sang in the church choir.

She moved to Milton in 2017 and was a resident of Fuller Village.

She leaves five stepchildren, Kathleen M. Convey of Brockton, Timothy P. McAloon of Quincy, Matthew McAloon of Dorchester, Michael McAloon of Cantwell, Alaska, and Daniel McAloon of Sandy Hook, Connecticut; as well as the families of her stepchildren.

In addition, she is survived by her dear friend, Betty Joan Clemons of Bedford, New Hampshire, and many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband.

Funeral services will be private.
