Francis X. DeCoste, 79, of Mashpee died June 7 at Cape Cod Hospital.

He was the husband of Marilyn DeCoste.

The son of Thomas A. DeCoste and Anna Frances (Martell) DeCoste, he graduated from Braintree High School in 1959 and attended Northeastern University.

Mr. DeCoste's career spanned many years as a precision machinist working at Polaroid and GTE Laboratories, among other places; then he founded Cotuit Machine and Manufacturing, which he operated until his retirement.

An avid fisherman, he also was a golfer and a gardener. He enjoyed traveling, especially with his wife and family.

In addition to his wife, he leaves five children, Francis DeCoste Jr. of Brockton, Deborah Hanf of Barnstable, Sharon Rogers of Mashpee, Michelle Wiseman of Centerville, and Stephanie Delande of South Chatham; a sister, Barbara Harris of Plymouth; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and extended family.

Visitation will be Friday, June 11, from 4 to 7 PM at Chapman Funeral & Cremations, 74 Algonquin Avenue in Mashpee.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 12, at 11:30 AM at Parish of Christ the King in Mashpee.

Burial will follow at Sandwich Town Cemetery.
