Jacqueline McAllister

Jacqueline Kay (Anderson) McAllister of Mashpee died April 19, after a period of declining health. She was 74.

She was the wife of Richard L. McAllister, to whom she was married for 51 years.

Ms. McAllister was born in St. Clairsville, Ohio. In her youth she learned how to play musical instruments and developed a lifelong love of music.

She met the man who would become her husband at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

During her lifetime she pursued her love of the arts, painting, gardening and volunteering.

Ms. McAllister lived for 25 years in Canton and spent five years in Switzerland, developing many international friendships there. During the last part of her life, living on the Cape, she indulged her love of the outdoors, participating in activities such as biking and kayaking, and playing golf and tennis.

In addition to her husband, she leaves two children, Amy Cappello of Verona, New Jersey, and Gregory McAllister of Canton; three grandchildren, Maya and Luke Cappello and Madelyn McAllister; a sister, Vicki Kirkbride of Arlington, Virginia; and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Kathie Anderson; and a brother, John Anderson.

A celebration of her life will be at a later date.

Burial will be private.
