Word has been received that Richard Lee Burnett, 77, of Mashpee died at home on March 10.

He was the husband of Judith (Smith) Burnett.

The son of the late Howard Burnett and Mary Burnett of Johnston, Pennsylvania, he was raised in Boston by his grandmother, Viola Johnson.

Mr. Burnett had a career as a radiology technologist at Boston City Hospital for 40 years until his retirement. After he retired, he continued working as a radiology technologist at Boston Medical Center and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

During his youth, he was a member of Holy Trinity’s drum and bugle corps in Boston and played on a basketball team at St. Mark’s Church Youth Center in Roxbury. He also enjoyed handball.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a sister, Ida Marie Burnett of Johnston, Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister Viola Irene Anthony.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 11, from 10 to 11 AM at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue in Mashpee.

A memorial service will begin at 11 o’clock in the funeral home.

Burial will be private.
