Robert A. D’Auria, 82, of Mashpee died at home July 3.

He was the husband of Janice D’Auria, to whom he was married for 62 years.

The son of Hugo and Helen D’Auria, he graduated from Arlington High School and served in the United States Army National Guard.

Mr. D’Auria was a member of the Bedford Police Department; he retired as a sergeant in 1998. He was a K-9 handler and member of the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council.

In retirement he and his wife moved to Cape Cod and he pursued hunting, fishing and golfing.

In addition to his wife, he leaves four children, Robert D’Auria of Chelmsford, Richard D’Auria of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Russell D’Auria of Boxborough and Diane Doodlesack of Reading; two sisters, Cynthia D’Auria of Marlborough and Barbara Marshall of Woburn; seven grandchildren, Christina Milligan, Robert D’Auria Jr., John D’Auria, Annika D’Auria, Amanda Doodlesack, Garrison Doodlesack and Jeff D’Auria; two great-granddaughters, Emma D’Auria and Isabella Milligan; and extended family.

A funeral service was Tuesday, July 9, at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home in Mashpee.

Burial followed in Great Neck Woods Cemetery in Mashpee.
