Ronald A. Percy, 79, of Mashpee died January 1 after a brief illness.

He was the husband of Nancy W. (Clark) Percy for nearly 29 years.

Born in Waltham, he was the son of Whitcomb Percy and Mary Vanunen.

Mr. Percy was a veteran of the US Navy in which he served for four years.

He and his wife began their family in Marlborough and eventually moved to Cape Cod.

Mr. Percy worked for Polaroid in Waltham and New Bedford, retiring from the corporation after 36 years.

He enjoyed golfing, and during his retirement he worked part-time at New Seabury Country Club. He also enjoyed traveling and cooking and was an avid fan of Boston sports teams.

For many years Mr. Percy was the president of the Mashpee Citizens Police Academy.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Debi Cabral of Land O’ Lakes, Florida, and Rebecca Forbes of Townsend; two sons, Ronald Percy of Fiskdale and Taylor Percy of Boston; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and other family.

A memorial service with military honors was set for today at 11:30 AM at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
