Theresa Mary (Guertin) Caponi of Hyannis, 89, died July 16 from complications of pneumonia. Ms. Caponi, who leaves family in Mashpee, died at Cape Cod Hospital.

She was born on Christmas Day in 1929 at home in Middleborough, the daughter of Charles Guertin and Mary Elizabeth (MacNeil) Guertin.

She graduated from Middleborough High School with the Class of 1948 and was also crowned Cranberry Queen, which launched her modeling career in both New York and Boston.

She married Ralph A. Caponi Jr. on November 27, 1954, and they lived in Canton and South Yarmouth. The couple made the Cape their permanent home in 1972, raising their daughter together.

After her husband died in 1984, Ms. Caponi ran their business, Nauset Glass & Mirror, until her retirement.

She leaves her daughter, Christina Lounsbury and her husband, Matthew Lounsbury, of Mashpee; and five grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers.

A private memorial will take place at a later date.
