Hats off to the Town of Mashpee and the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod/Kraft Family Clubhouse for The Polar Express which was held on Sunday.

I had the opportunity to load the decorated SUV up with kids and snacks (provided by the 99 Restaurant) and to venture through the neighborhoods of Mashpee. We enjoyed the many people who decorated their homes and businesses. It was a great community event!

I especially want to thank Jim Kiley, president of the Boys & Girls Club, Ruth Provost, the club’s executive director, Mashpee Town Manager Rodney Collins, and the Mashpee police for directing traffic. Thank you to all of the others who made this a very special holiday event. It was great to see all of the well-wishers outside their homes shouting Merry Christmas as the cars drove by.

This was a great event especially during the time of COVID. Since we can’t be physically together during this holiday season, the efforts of local leaders to bring us together in different ways is especially important—and appreciated.

I’ve enjoyed 40 years of living, working and playing in Mashpee!
