Celebrate with us!

On Monday, October 14, the Mashpee Historical Commission will be hosting a celebration at the Community Park of the 50th anniversary year of our inception. Hope you will join us during one or all of the activities listed below. Light refreshments will be served.

11 AM to 2 PM: Come and enjoy some refreshments and explore our historic maps to see how Mashpee has changed over the years, or has it stayed the same? View some historic photographs, including Mashpee baseball of the 1930s and 1940s, the Indian Meeting House, Pow Wow photos, Popponesset, New Seabury, South Cape Beach and snack stand, the original site of Mashpee Commons, Falcon football, the original fire and police stations and the original Mashpee Town Hall. Did you know that Mashpee was visited by President George H.W. Bush? Come and see the photographic proof!

11 AM to Noon: Ever used a quill pen or written on a slate? Take a tour of the original South Mashpee School and meet the school master or school marm and learn something old.

Noon to 1 PM: Roundtable discussion with past and present Mashpee Historical Commission members.

1 to 2 PM: Enjoy and learn about some Wampanoag culture, on this Indigenous Peoples Day, as you watch performances by Wampanoag drummers, singers, and dancers.

See you at the Community Park and Mashpee Archives on October 14 from 11 AM to 2 PM, 13 Great Neck Road North (across from the Mashpee Town Hall)!
