In the last game of the 2019 season the Mashpee High School boys’ lacrosse team gave one of its most competitive efforts and came very close to ending the season on a high note.
Mashpee rallied to take a lead in the third quarter, but could not hold on against North Quincy in the suburbs of Boston. The Red Raiders held Mashpee to just one in the fourth and came out on top by an 11-9 score.
Owen Balfour was the catalyst for the Mashpee offense, scoring five times in the game. The Falcons trailed 3-2 after one and 7-6 at halftime. Outcoring the host team 2-0 in the third, Mashpee took a lead into the closing quarter, but were unable to hold on.
Caesar Hendricks had a goal and four assists in the game for the Falcons. Jack Howard scored a pair and had an assist. Robbie Diaz scored one and set one up. Gabe Perreira and Samson Brooks both had an assist.
In the goal Kayden Eaton was strong. The freshman keeper had 20 saves in the game.
