It’s been a rough week for the Mashpee High School boys’ lacrosse team. The Falcons have been struggling to keep up with their opponents and lost a pair of lopsided games.
The most recent defeat came at the hands of Fairhaven High School on the road on Tuesday, May 14. Playing in miserable conditions, the Falcons were never able to get anything going and dropped a 14-4 decision.
Jack Howard had two goals in the game for the Falcons. Stephen Robinson-Wahl and Owen Balfour had the other goals. Balfour had an assist as well, and Hunter Bohnenberger had a helper.
Last Friday, May 10, the Falcons dropped a 19-6 contest to visiting Hull High School. Mashpee hung tough through the first quarter, trailing just 3-2 after one period. Hull ripped through the Falcons in the second, though. HHS outscored MHS by an 8-1 margin in the second to take an 11-3 lead into the half. The dominance continued in the third as the Pirates added seven more while Mashpee got just one.
Howard and Balfour each had two goals and an assist in the game. Robinson-Wahl had one goal, and Caesar Hendricks had a goal and an assist. Goalie Kayden Eaton stopped 12 shots on net in the game.
Mashpee fell to 3-8 overall on the season with the defeat. The Falcons travel to Middleboro High School today.
