Rough Game One

Mashpee field hockey dropped its first game of the season on Friday at a rainy field in Norwell.

On a horrible day to be outside the Mashpee High School field hockey team suffered through a tough opening game of the 2019 season. Heading out on the road to play Norwell, one of the top South Shore League field hockey programs, Mashpee never was able to find a rhythm and suffered a 5-0 loss to the Clippers.

"Norwell was very aggressive, and they double-teamed all day," Coach Kelly Horan said. "We went back to playing very defensive when we saw how aggressive they were."

Coach Horan said that Skylar Dutra played well for her team in the midfield. Goalie Paige Lundberg was strong, despite the final score. "It goes through 10 girls before it gets to her, and she did great," the coach said.

Mashpee visits Middleboro High School on Tuesday, September 10, to play their second game of the young season.
